What’s so cool about the 2011 Canadian Silver Grizzly Bear Mint State 70 (MS70)?

The second coin in a 3 year, six-coin Canadian Wildlife Series. These awe-inspiring, solitary giants are found throughout the Canadian wilderness and are a natural choice to be featured on this uniquely Canadian coin series. The Royal Canadian Mints Ottawa facility plans to release two annual issues from this highly anticipated series through 2014.

Designed by the Royal Canadian Mint’s Senior Engraver, William Woodruff, the coins reverse depicts a growling Grizzly Bear along the water’s edge surrounded by rugged wilderness landscape. This large and powerful creature is pictured with uncanny-detail, at the base of a snow-capped mountain in the Canadian Rockies.

Acclaimed Canadian portrait artist Susanna Blunt designed the coin’s obverse which features the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Struck from one ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this coin bears a face value of $5 and is part of an extremely limited mintage.

The next issue of the six-coin Canadian Wildlife Series will not be announced until later this year. The Royal Canadian Mint is exclusively responsible for the production and distribution of these coins and has placed a strict and low mintage on them.

The demand for these coins has been unprecedented in Europe and the rest of the world. We expect these Grizzly Bear coins will sell out very quickly, making your ownership of one(or more) even more impressive.
