If you want to be the best at anything, you must want it badly enough and you must train for it.

Olympic athletes train. Hard. Much harder than any of us mere mortals can imagine.

Thankfully, training to be a top marketer isn’t nearly as difficult, painful, or time consuming as training to win Olympic gold, but it is more fun and in many cases it pays better.

In the next few paragraphs you’re going to learn information that may possibly revolutionize your thinking and set you on the road to achieving your dreams. So sit back, relax, pour of nice hot cup of coffee, whatever you need to do to set your mind in a proper zone, free from distraction.

Humans have 4 main personality traits. Awareness and familiarization with these traits allows one to better understand how people think, feel, act, react, and make decisions. In essence, you will understand what makes them tick.

More importantly, you will more fully understand what makes you tick.

Most importantly, you will gain a complete grasp on what triggers a person’s decision to buy, which is what marketing is all about.

I know you want to make more money, so let’s get started:

First, we’ll start with the Planners. These people plan everything. I’m sure 3 or 4 people immediately came to mind and you said, “yep, I know some planners.”

My wife is a planner.

Everything she does has a plan. Her calendar is tidy and most generally full. Planning is exciting for her. She loves to plan and is at her best when she has something to plan. She is one of the best planners on the planet.

My wife plans like it’s her job, because it is.

With planners, everything is a blueprint, so I find it helpful to think of the color blue when I think of a planner. Blue is the color of money.

“Everyone knows money is green, Rod!” True, but blue attracts the money.

Don’t take my word for it. Look around you right now. How many things can you find that are blue?

Blue is a comfortable color. Blue puts people at ease. Blue makes people spend money. Once again, this is science and not my opinion. Wavelengths of blue in its various hues provoke buying decisions like no other color family.

Blue is big money and big companies spend big money on blue.

Pay close attention to television commercials, billboards, packaging at the grocery store, etc. You will see that a great many companies utilize blue heavily in their marketing campaigns.

The Golf Channel does an incredible job of luring you in to their show by utilizing several different shades of blue, along with shiny metal, attractive wood, lighting and background action on strategically placed flat screen televisions.

The Golf Channel has mastered color psychology in their marketing strategy. How else do you explain why viewers watch reporters on a TV set talking about golf?

Their mastery keeps the audience’s attention long enough to get them to the commercials, which is the only reason network television exist.

I’m watching The NFL Today on CBS. Their set scheme? Blue on blue on blue on blue on blue.

But this article isn’t about The NFL Today, The Golf Channel or color psychology, it’s personality types and how understanding them can make you piles of cash.

Remember, planners are blue. You need planners in your business.

Blues put the B in BANK.

Next, the Action Junkies. I’ll bet you know a ton of Action Junkies. Always the life of the party, action junkies are the type of people who skydive, rock climb, drive fast cars, constantly try new things and have a few hundred hobbies. Action Junkies are always on-the-go; they are your stereotypical type-A’s.

When you think action junky, think red. Red is another trigger color. Red produces a unique excitement in people.

Action junkies love red. Most sports cars are red. Most traffic tickets are given to people who drive red vehicles. Red attracts cops. Or maybe it attracts a driver who needs to mash the pedal to the floor, I’m not sure, but red is an attraction mechanism unlike no other.

Look around you. What items do you see that are red?

Pay special attention to the colors you encounter on a daily basis. Question why those objects are that color. You’ll find that many times that red is doing the attracting, especially in nature. Take fruit for example. Our bodies function best when we eat fruit. Humans tend toward things that are visually attractive, and many of the healthiest fruits in the World are red.

But isn’t this discussion supposed to be about personality types, you ask? Correct, dear reader, but the discussion is more about making money than anything and color plays a major role in that!

Now, back to your regularly scheduled program…

Action Junkies get things done and get them done now. You need Action Junkies in your business.

Action Junkies put the A in BANK.

Next up, the N’s.

N is for nurture, and Nurturers are people with huge hearts. Nurturers want to save the World, and will give the shirt off of their back to help someone.

Nurturers want to help everybody, all of the time. They put everybody else’s interests before their own self-interest.

N’s make sure everybody is happy. You know plenty of N’s.

These are typically the people who are on the front lines in business. N’s are the people at the front desk or phone, dealing with customers.

N’s soothe and comfort. N’s keep the peace. When you see somebody throw up a “peace sign,” you’ll be witnessing an N. Some N’s (but not all) are mellow. When you think “N,” think yellow.

The 4th and final personality type is the one that makes the World go ’round: the K’s.

“K” stands for knowledge. Knowledge is power. K’s are the people who discover. Albert Einstein is a K. Thomas Edison is a K. Steven Hawking is a K.

K’s are the inventors, researchers, and creators who are always . K’s need to know everything about something before they make a decision on anything, and will dissect a topic, an issue, a manual… no matter what lies before them, a “K” will ask a million questions and try to find a way to improve it or pick it apart to find its weakness.

Without K’s the World as we know it would not exist. We need K’s, and you need them in your business. K’s are green, because you can’t make “green” without them.

It may take a K forever to make a decision, after they’ve weighed all of the options from all 360 angles, but once that decision is made, don’t look back, Katy-bar-the-door it is all systems go. You can bet your bottom dollar the decision was correct.

K’s make quality decisions because they put the extra time, effort and thought into them.

So there you have it. Personality training you can take to the BANK.

What are your main personality traits? Your spouse, parents, siblings, friends, business associates?

Just as you can’t be all things to all people, you can’t be all 4 personality types. You may have a balance of a couple, maybe 3 but not all 4.

For example, my wife provides incredible balance in my life because she is a planner. Lord knows I’m not. Jen has a great balance of B, N and K, but not a great deal of A. My personality, in no particular order, consists more of A, N and K, and not so much B. Together, we make a great team.

In any relationship, whether it be business or romance, it is important to identify personality traits between parties and find balance between them, to strengthen the relationship and provide a win-win situation for all.

Until next time, have a super-fantastic rockin’ day.
